Have you ever E-Filed your taxes? It seems so easy, file the taxes from the comfort of your home computer and if they need any of your receipts they send you a letter and you mail them in!
Wow, what a time saver! No more fiddling around with a calculator for me!
Oops! Revenue Canada sometimes misses the critical step of asking you for your receipts before re-assessing! The brains at the tax office have decided that my 3 year old was able to watch himself while I was at work! Therefore my Childcare Expenses are "False" and I now owe them alooooooooooooottttt of money!
Here are some of my favorite customer service lines:
- Someone will call you back in a week (x2)
- Someone from the London office will call you in 72 Hours
- You need to speak with the person in Summerside
- The person who assesses your taxes does not have incoming phone service
- There is only one person who assesses all of the taxes in Canada so he is VERY BUSY
- This should be resolved in 4 weeks
- Oops we meant 8 weeks
- Well, really it is 12 weeks minimum
- If you are not satisfied ask to speak with the supervisor next time you call!
- Oh, sorry the supervisor said they can not help you and will not talk with you
- Don't worry this will not affect your credit rating if you pay on time
And my all time favorite:
- I have no idea if we received any mail from you, there is really no way to tell!
YIKES!
